2023 Program updates will be coming soon!

The University of Florida, along with the sponsorship of The IRONMAN Foundation, is offering a unique opportunity for forty students across the United States to participate in a virtual, 4-week Service-Learning & Leadership Program. Beginning on June 27th, and concluding on July 25th, students will learn about the nomenclature of nonprofit organizations and develop a new program plan or idea to implement within their selected 501c3 charitable organization. Students will work collectively in groups and individual assignments to accomplish the many leadership goals set forth by this program. This program is a great introduction to moving beyond the required volunteer hours in high school by getting involved in the community through nonprofit organizational learning.

Although this is a virtual program, students will be expected to meet synchronously each week by attending a two-hour Zoom session with the professor and other students in this program.  If a student is unable to attend the Zoom session, the meeting will be recorded for the student to view. Students are highly encouraged to attend the two-hour Zoom meeting each week.

Eligibility:  Students entering 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade for the 2022/2023 school year.  If you are currently in 12th grade, you cannot apply since you no longer be in high school after June 2022.  All students residing in the United States are eligible to apply for this program.

The applications will be available starting March 15, 2022 and will due by May 15, 2022.  We will not accept any applications for the Service Learning and Leadership Summer Program after May 15, 2022.

The application fee is $25.00 per student. If accepted, each student will be expected to pay the program fee of $200.00 approximately one month before the program begins. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of the program if a student meets the scholarship criteria.
