Summer Science Institute
The Summer Science Institute at the University of Florida is an ongoing professional development opportunity for educators focused on updating content knowledge and engaging in laboratory experience
Together with UF faculty and graduate students, educators perform authentic research, visit laboratories and facilities, hear talks by research and industry leaders, share best practices and develop standards-aligned classroom applications.
Topics for SSI vary by year, and have included Aquatic Systems, Exploring the Tree of Life, Emerging Pathogens, and Environmental Systems.
During the Summer Science Institute, participants will have the chance to work with UF faculty and graduate students, perform authentic research, visit laboratories and facilities, hear talks by research and industry leaders, develop classroom applications, and take several resources back to the classroom. This is an excellent professional development opportunity for educators to increase their science content knowledge and gain valuable hands-on experience that will renew their excitement in the classroom and their comfort with their curriculum. Participation in the Summer Science Institute also forms a partnership between the educators and the University of Florida and encourages further collaboration between schools and the University.
The Summer Science Institute features:

- Follow-up support for incorporating SSI activities in your classroom
