How much does it cost?

Fees – The program fee for Explorations in Biomedical Research is $1000 for commuter, and $2000 for residential.

  • Commuter: 9am – 4:30pm, $1000 includes lunch and program materials including laboratory supplies and parking permit.
  • Residential: Sunday, July 17 evening check-in – Friday, July 29 afternoon check-out; $2000 includes housing, meals, supervision, internet access, and program materials including laboratory supplies.

What about housing and supervision?

Housing – Residential participants of Explorations in Biomedical Research and residential staff live in the Hume Residence Hall on the UF campus. Each suite has two double-occupancy bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Please visit the highlighted link above for more information on this residence. Upon invitation to participate in the Explorations in Biomedical Research program, residential students will be mailed detailed information on the kinds of items they will want to bring with them for their stay during the program.

Program Staff – Participants are well cared for during Explorations in Biomedical Research. The program coordinator, two instructors, a program assistant, and two residential counselors work together to provide an academically stimulating, enjoyable, and safe week for each student.

Who is eligible, and how do I apply?

Eligibility – Applicants must be students entering 11th or 12th grade.

Application – Interested students entering their junior or senior year should complete the application form, request teacher recommendations, respond to the provided essay topic, and submit completed materials with a copy of applicant’s first semester report card with cumulative GPA. Complete applications will be reviewed in mid March. Applicants are encouraged to submit completed materials as early as possible.  All application materials are available on the 2016 Application Information page. Forms can also be requested by contacting the UF CPET office.
