2015 JSEHS Student STEM Research Competition Winners!

Congratulations to the 2015 Florida Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Student STEM Research Competition Winners!

Episcopal School of Jacksonville student took home first place, and was awarded a $2,000 scholarship to the university or college of her choice, with the project: Proteomic Characterization of Mosquito Host Cell Glycoproteins during Dengue Virus Egress. Lake Highland Preparatory School student was second, which came with a $1,500 scholarship to the university or college of his choice, with the project: Detection of Copper Contamination in Drinking Water Using Ligand Coated Fluorescent CdS:Mn/ZnS Quantum Dots. Ponte Vedra High School student came in third, with a $1,000 scholarship to his choice university or college, and Research Coast – Florida Junior Academy of Science student came in fourth place.

All four student winners from the Florida Regional JSEHS have received a sponsored trip to the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in Washington, DC in the spring.  First and second place will compete for an additional $16,000 in scholarship prize money.  Third and fourth place will represent Florida at the National Poster Competition for cash and prize awards.
