Forty-one teachers gathered in a conference room one rainy Sunday afternoon in June and began an adventure.  Three teachers would join them a few days later.  Together they knew they would be spending time in various science labs.   But the teachers had no idea of the scope and breadth of the activities that occur in research laboratories at the University of Florida.  Those forty-four teachers would spend the next seven weeks learning .   .   .   .   .

That is how it all began.  From the moment they arrived on campus until the time they left, the teachers were occupied, gripped, engaged, immersed, engrossed, absorbed, fascinated, and captivated.  It began with a one week biotechnology workshop and concluded with a dinner and reception that brought together university professors, graduate students, and elementary, middle, and high school teachers.  The teachers of TRUE participated in every type of lab setting that was possible, from Agronomy to Zoology.  Of greatest importance was that they were included in the ongoing research in laboratories across the University of Florida.  It was hard work, but they learned, played, shared their knowledge with one another and soaked up knowledge from everything around them.  The TRUE teachers came away from the experience with another task.  They must take the knowledge gained back to their schools and share--with colleagues and with students.  For that is, in essence, the culmination of the TRUE experience.
