Randall Dunkin's TRUE Experience: Honest!

Current Assignment

1998-99 will be my seventh year as the Principles of Technology Instructor for six vocational programs at the Ohio Valley Vocational School, in West Union, Ohio. TRUE Research Assignment

My Summer 1998 TRUE research assignment was in the Department of Astronomy. Professor Jaydeep Mukherjee, Ph.D. was my lab host in a study of determining light curves for eclipsing binary systems. The task was to determine the first photometric analysis of the eclipsing binary E.R. Scuti. A least squares fit to the observations taken at Rosemary Hill Observatory (light vs. time) was accomplished using a computer model.

I found the eclipsing binary research assignment fascinating and applicable to my current classroom assignment, as I implement my classroom action plan based on the TRUE experience.
