1998 WEBPAGE FOR KEN BRANDT

During this run of the Teacher Research Update Experience (TRUE) I hope to achieve the following:

1. Learn all that I can, and go from there!

2. Network with the other Teachers here, who are really cool and stuff.

3. Try not to write like Beavis anymore Heh, heh, heh...

I have taught Earth Science, Astronomy and Biology at Vanguard HS for 8 years. Vanguard is an IB school located in beautiful horse country of Ocala. I am also Vanguard’s Academic Team coach, and we run a PACE/NSC affiliated tournament for the Southeastern U.S. in February, called VITAE; Vanguard Invitational Tournament for Academic Excellence. We placed 13th in the USA at the National Academic Championships. If you want to learn all there is to know about quiz bowl/academic team stuff, visit the Case Western Reserve U.’s link page at <a href = PACE/NSC http://www.cwru.edu/orgs/trivia/internet.html "

An excellent source of upcoming event info (for both HS and College) can be found at the Nisaba Tournament List

Finally, I must give the propers to the University of Florida’s College Bowl Team http://grove.ufl.edu/~ufcbowl/ , since they have dominated their region for the longest, and they run the best tournament we can play in (we don’t play in VITAE). Besides, I could use all the kiss up points they’ll give us!
