University of Florida Outreach Catalog
Our outreach program is designed to increase awareness and enthusiasm for insects and other "bugs." Shows are given to groups of all sizes and ages and are tailored to meet the individual needs of the group. We try to make each show fun as well as informative, with lots of live critters and as many hands-on activities as time, size, and age permit.
Fishing for success is a joint program run by the University of Florida/IFAS Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC), Gainesville Police Department, and the Alachua County Sheriffs Office. The program uses fishing and other related activities as the "hook" to introduce youth (including "atrisk" groups) to many different aspects of fisheries, environmental sciences, and other vocational/educational opportunities.
