Summer Employment Opportunities
UF CPET Program Assistant
Variable hours to include some evenings and weekends during program weeks.
This is a time-limited position from May 19 - August 1, 2008.
Positions Available: Two (One full time; one part time.)
Pay starts at $7.50/hr (some meals during programs provided)
Assist with the preparation and administration of summer science programs for teachers and high school students. The Program Assistant will assist with planning and scheduling program events, assembling course materials for participants, and assist on-site with program activities. The Program Assistant will help develop, test, and implement science activities for teachers and students. The Program Assistant positions will work with the ICORE, SSI and/or Science Quest programs (see website for individual program descriptions).
Preferred qualifications: Advanced course work in science or related field (Jr/Sr level) or course work in Education, particularly Science Education, as well as undergraduate level science courses. Experience with students, particularly high school students, desired. Willingness to drive a 15-passenger van. (CPET will assist in necessary training.) Familiarity with UF campus a plus.
Science Quest Program Counselor
Full-Time; Days (approximately 8am-5pm).
This is a time-limited position from July 13 - July 25, 2008.
Positions Available: Two (one male/ one female.)
Pay starts at $320/week (two meals per day included during camp)
The Program Counselor will accompany program participants to various campus locations and will assist with all daytime activities (a variety of science-related field and bench experiments). The Program Counselor will assist in the supervision of participants (24 rising 10th-graders) and serve as a positive role model.
Preferred qualifications: Advanced course work in science or related field (Jr/Sr level). Experience with high school students, desired. Willingness to drive a 15-passenger van. (CPET will assist in necessary training.) Familiarity with UF campus a plus.
Science Quest Residential Counselor
Full-Time; Evenings/Nights (approximately 4pm-8:30am).
his is a time-limited position from July 13 - July 26, 2008.
Positions Available: Two (one male/ one female)
Pay starts at $320/week (Two meals per day provided during camp)
The Residential Counselor will assist with the organization, coordination, and oversight of evening program activities and will reside in the dormitory for the duration of the program. The Residential Counselor will supervise program participants (12 male; 12 female 10th graders) and serve as a positive role model. Evening events will include science enrichment activities, daytime wrap-up, and social activities.
Preferred qualifications: Advanced course work in science or related field (Jr/Sr level). Experience with high school students, desired. Willingness to drive a 15-passenger van. (CPET will assist in necessary training.) Familiarity with UF campus a plus.
