Mini Medical School (MMS)
2001
Mini Medical School 2001 took place on October 19, 2001 at the University of Florida. With a title of "Partnering for Tomorrow’s Health", Mini Medical School 2001 focused on students and their futures by bringing their teachers on campus to gain insight and ideas they could take back to their classrooms.
Participants came from Alachua, Bradford, Citrus, Columbia, Duval, Gilchrist, Marion and Putnam counties.
It was an opportunity for middle and high school teachers to experience some of the many facets of the University of Florida College of Medicine, much like a medical or graduate student would. They visited clinical and research laboratories with the guidance of medical students, listened to lectures on stem cell research and biomedical ethics, were engaged in thought provoking discussions, shared ideas with peers, heard an interdisciplinary panel on health-related careers, and gained a deep appreciation for the breadth of knowledge and discovery at the University of Florida.
